Biography

David’s background in aviation includes 18 years as a military pilot in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). David served as the Commanding Officer of an AH-64D squadron in his last appointment in the Air Force. He was rated on several other helicopter types, including the UH-1H and EC 120.

David served as a pilot in SilkAir (Singapore) and subsequently Pacific Airlines (Vietnam). In his time with SilkAir, he was an elected representative for the Air Line Pilots Association of Singapore (ALPA-S), where he worked on safety management and pilot representation. He is a Certified Flying Instructor and holds Airline Transport Pilot licenses with Singapore, Vietnam and USA.

In 2017, he co-founded an air evacuation company, Kestrel Aero, based in Singapore. He currently advises the company on strategy.

David holds a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is an adjunct professor teaching undergraduate courses in aeronautical science and management. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Aviation (Safety and Human Factors). His research interests include data envelopment analysis, machine learning and simulation.
